Xiaomi is one of the few foldable smartphone manufacturers, which launched its first model, the Mi MIX Fold, in 2021, followed by the MIX Fold 2 in 2022, and MIX Fold 3 in 2023. These devices, however, were only available on the Chinese market, leaving enthusiasts all over the world high and dry. However, it seems that things are about to change, as Xiaomi's next foldable smartphone, the MIX Fold 4, could be the first to launch globally.

This was revealed by some leaks coming from reliable sources, such as the blogger Wisdom Pikachu and the leakster Digital Chat Station, who shared some information and images on the MIX Fold 4 and two other foldable smartphones that Xiaomi is reportedly testing. According to these rumors, the MIX Fold 4 will be the flagship model of the series, featuring a book-like design with a horizontal folding screen and a series of high-end features, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the most recent and powerful chip from Qualcomm, with support for 5G and satellite connectivity, a function that would allow you to make calls and send messages even in the absence of a cellular or Wi-Fi network.
The foldables will also have an unlocking system with Side fingerprint recognition, integrated into the power button, for greater safety and convenience. A rear photographic system with four cameras, including a main one with new technology and a new sensor, and two periscopic cameras with variable optical zoom, to guarantee unprecedented image quality and versatility. The cameras would also be certified by Leica, the famous German brand of precision optics. Finally, we will find a cOptimized weight and thickness control, thanks to an innovative design based on the previous generation, which used a hinge self-developed by Xiaomi called “keel hinge”.
The MIX Fold 4 could also have a starting price lower than that of the MIX Fold 3, which cost 8.999 yuan (around 1.150 euros). This would make it one of the cheapest and most competitive foldables on the market.
Apart from the MIX Fold 4, Xiaomi is also reportedly working on two other foldable smartphones, one with one vertical folding screen, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, and one with one horizontal folding screen, but with more modest specifications, which could open up the low-cost folding segment. These devices, however, do not yet have an official name, nor an expected launch date.
We just have to wait for official confirmations from the company, which could arrive in the next few months.
