Wasn't the 1W Surge P120 chip developed by Xiaomi? The official answer

The Xiaomi 12 Pro launched on December 30, 2021 is the first smartphone to implement a 120W single-cell charging solution as it is equipped with the Surge P1 charging chip developed by the brand itself. Well, in this regard, today the Shanghai Nanxin Semiconductor Technology company released a statement, stating that in the previous weeks they have run different on the Xiaomi Surge P1 chip, or that it was identical to the one produced by Nanxin Semiconductor.

Wasn't the 1W Surge P120 chip developed by Xiaomi? The official answer

The company has therefore specified that one of the chips developed and produced by Nanxin Semiconductor has internal code SC8561. This chip has ultra-high voltage 4: 1 charging architecture, realizes 120W single cell charging, supports 1: 12: 1 and 4: 1 conversion modes, all modes can work bidirectionally and can reach 120W wired, 50W wireless, reverse wireless charging and other charging functions.

While the Nanxin SC8571 chip released by Nanxin Semiconductor in September 2021 has ultra-high voltage 4: 2 charging architecture, capable of realizing 120W dual cell charging. It supports 4: 22: 2 modes for charging requirements very high power.

On the other hand, the Surge P1 charging chip developed by Xiaomi is completely different from the Nanxin SC8571. It is two charging chips with different designs, different functions and different positioning.

According to the official introduction of Xiaomi, the Surge P1 has 4: 1 ultra-high efficiency architecture with adaptive switching frequency, the resonant efficiency is up to 97,5%, the non-resonant efficiency is 96,8% and the heat loss plummets is 30%.

At the same time, the Surge P1 is also Xiaomi's highest charging efficiency 4: 1 charging chip, which can achieve ultra-high power density of 0,83W / mm² and also has ultra-low LDMOS of 1.18mΩmm² industry leading RSP. In general, a much higher chip than traditional charging ones.

So why did this misunderstanding arise? Well simply because the Xiaomi Surge P1 chip was manufactured in the factories of Nanxin Semiconductor, but that doesn't mean it wasn't Xiaomi who developed it. In fact, very few companies (if any) have factories available to produce the various components for their devices.
