The displays of today's smartphones are reaching very high quality levels, as well as the refresh rates that affect the fluidity now have numbers that are definitely on a par with the best gaming monitors. Among the functions that affect the goodness of the displays we also find DC Dimming, now introduced on many models of recent production, but some users have complained that their OnePlus 8T does not have it. However, there is a way to benefit from it also on this device and now we explain it to you.
Without holding us back in too much chatter and without delving into why this lack of DC Dimming on OnePlus 8T, let's start by telling you that generally the setting is available by going to the phone Settings and then to the Utilities menu and again on OnePlus Lab, but how you can see on the screenshot above this item is missing right on the 8T flagship, so you just have to follow our guide to enable DC Dimming or hope for future updates, although it is not known whether the function will actually be added or not, but the hopes could materialize soon as it seems that the function is available on the HydrogenOS, or the Chinese ROM of OnePlus.
DC Dimming on OnePlus 8T? It is now possible with this little guide
First of all you have to make sure you have the ADB suite on your PC as to activate DC Dimming on your OnePlus 8T we should issue ADB commands. If you don't have the suite you can download a handy tool from this link. Having said that, the commands to execute for the function are the following:
am start-activity -a oneplus.intent.action.ONEPLUS_LAB_FEATURE_DETAILS -e oneplus_lab_feature_key oneplus_dc_dimming_value
For those with root permissions it is possible to use Termux (or any other terminal for Android) and use the command:
on am start-activity -a oneplus.intent.action.ONEPLUS_LAB_FEATURE_DETAILS -e oneplus_lab_feature_key oneplus_dc_dimming_value
NB - The operation should not cause particular problems, but it is still a modding operation that if not done correctly could cause damage to your device. Therefore the TecjToday.it staff does not assume any responsibility.
