It is not new that Google has acquired the Fitbit company, so much so that it is from November 2019 that the technological schedule reported the news but due to excessive zeal for approval by the various regulatory bodies on these financial activities, the l final agreement, which now seems to have reached an end point, with a transaction value of 2,1 billion dollars.
Google's Fitbit acquisition agreement finally ends
The merger was approved after 4 months of intense investigation by the European body as the main concern was the advantage that Google would have over other advertising companies, after all it would have access to consumption habits in a way unprecedented for any company in this industry until now, which would be unfair competition in this market.
But Google has agreed not to use location, health and fitness data in its advertising services to understand and deliver ads to users in the European Economic Area.
So no fear for the privacy of Fitbit users, also because if Google wishes to have access to any of this information, it will have to send a request to the user in advance. Google has also made a commitment to keep the Fitbit API open to developers by allowing the use of third-party applications.
The agreement is valid for 10 years, a period during which an administrator will make sure all conditions are met, keeping Google and Fitbit as separate companies.
