The results

The study revealed that Android is 58% easier to use than the Apple operating system. We saw fewer user searches for instructions on how to perform common Android tasks, such as creating a screen recording, setting up voicemail, deleting apps, blocking numbers, and performing a factory reset.

Android performed better than iOS in ten of the twelve businesses evaluated. However, Apple's operating system proved to be more intuitive when it comes to taking screenshots and scanning QR codes. Overall, approximately 226.000 monthly searches are made by users looking to perform basic to intermediate tasks on Android, compared to approximately 358.000 on iOS, with a 58,41% difference. This is despite the fact that the total number of iPhone users has only slightly exceeded the number of Android users in the US.

Methodology

For each business assessed, the study analyzed Google search volume in the United States, using the average volume of monthly searches for the previous 12 months. Different keyword formats have been used for different tasks, but the same term format for both Android and Apple devices.
