Qualcomm and Augmented Reality on Android: a new chapter

During the AWE conference, dedicated to the technologies of augmented reality (AR), Qualcomm ha revealed his latest advances in the field. The chip giant has shared its plans for developing AR and VR industries, in cooperation with major partners. This announcement marks an important step for the tech industry, as Qualcomm plans to make AR more accessible on Android.

Qualcomm reveals its plans to bring augmented reality to Android, opening new frontiers for developers and users

The heart of this innovation is Dual Render Fusion, part of a software solution that integrates AR glasses and smartphones within the Snapdragon Spaces platform. This technology will allow developers to easily integrate AR features into the default Android apps, thus reducing the complexity of development.

One of the first devices to benefit from this new technology will be the viewer OPPO MR, based on the Qualcomm chip. This viewer will be equipped with cameras for vision “through” the environment, a feature reminiscent of future Apple innovations. The device is expected to be able to connect to smartphones, tablets and laptops, thus offering a smoother and more integrated AR experience.

But Qualcomm doesn't stop there. The company has announced that it is working on one future platform and next generation mixed reality glasses in collaboration with Samsung and Google. While details on this device have not yet been disclosed, it is clear that Qualcomm is committed to taking augmented reality to the next level.

Qualcomm's announcement marks an important step for the augmented reality industry. With the introduction of Dual Render Fusion and collaboration with leading partners, the company aims to make AR more accessible and easier to implement on Android. Other companies will join Oppo in partnership with tech giant Qualcomm. We also expect similar announcements from Xiaomi and other big techs.
