A couple of days ago the famous smartphone destroyer JerryRigEverything released a video in which he broke the brand new ASUS ROG Phone 5. A smartphone that given its gaming phone thickness gave no hint of weakness, but apparently we were wrong.
ASUS ROG Phone 5: the teardown shows us what its weak point is
Well, today, JerryRigEverything has also published a video in which he disassembles the device piece by piece, so as to understand what went wrong during the bending test.
The youtuber begins the teardown by removing the back of the device, this immediately reveals an interior different from any other smartphone seen previously. We have in fact two separate batteries positioned above and below a central board. So there is no central component that reinforces the internal structure, but all the load shifts to the external frame that should perform this task. As we have already seen a few days ago, this is not enough.
In fact, the break occurred exactly in the points where the frame is most vulnerable, that is, near the side openings, such as the one for the connection of accessories.
What can I say, a truly exceptional smartphone from the point of view of performance and design, but if you are not careful you risk breaking it in half.
