Disney+ adapts: new prices for Italy and new strategies

After the announcement of theDisney+ advertising subscription, we no longer talked about the upcoming news. Today however, here is the cold shower: prices will also increase in Italy. Even this streaming giant has to adapt to price increases just like Netflix did. Disney+ is about to introduce some significant changes to your subscription plans in Italy, and these changes could affect both new and old subscribers starting November 1st.

New plans and prices

Beginning November 1, Disney+ will introduce a standard plan with advertising, a move that aims to reduce the cost of admission to the service. This new plan will cost €5,99 per month and will guarantee two simultaneous streams up to Full HD resolution, with stereo or 5.1 audio. Unlike the current standard plan, there will be no option to save with an annual subscription.

But that is not all. The Premium plan is another great novelty that will make the 4K an exclusive feature for users willing to pay more. This plan it will cost €11,99 per month or €119,90 per year and will be active from November 1st, also offering audio in Dolby Atmos and four simultaneous streams.

Disney+ like Netflix: block sharing

Another important aspect of the upcoming changes concerns password sharing. Disney stands following in the footsteps of Netflix, trying to oppose account sharing, a practice that has allowed many people to use an account without paying full price.

Disney's CEO, Bob Iger, he stressed that the company is “actively exploring ways to counter account sharing“. This could include updating user agreements and introducing new tactics to improve monetization starting in 2024.

The changes announced by Disney+ are significant and could impact how users perceive and use the service. Introducing an ad-supported plan could attract new users looking for a cheaper option, while the price increase for 4K content could be seen as an attempt to further monetize high-quality content.
