Every day our body is bombarded with radiation of all kinds. The electromagnetic one is one of the many and it is a manifestation to which the body is accustomed: there are numerous natural phenomena attributable to electromagnetism and solar radiation is also among them. The advancement of technology and the consequent introduction of new telecommunication and electricity distribution systems, however, has enormously increased the number of devices that influence this type of interaction. Our smartphone is just one of the many devices that create electromagnetic radiation, but it is certainly the one we spend the most time with. Precisely for this reason it is essential to ask ourselves if our "travel companion" is harmful to our well-being. But how can this be understood? Are Xiaomi smartphones harmful? Don't worry, there is no need to arm yourself with tinfoil hats. Here's why.
The SAR security level and legislative limits
The Specific Absorption Rate or SAR (acronym for Specific Absorption Rate) is the measure of the percentage of electromagnetic energy absorbed by the human body when exposed to a radiofrequency magnetic field. The SAR is commonly used to calculate the amount of energy absorbed during the use of mobile phones and its unit of measurement is the Watt per kilogram. Given the instability of this energy, the measurements are performed in conditions of maximum absorption, taking into account the methods of use, placing the smartphone next to the ear. Security limits for mobile devices are regulated by the government. In Italy, the legislation established by the EU through the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) applies. These standards do not allow the marketing of mobile phones whose SAR exceeds 2 W / Kg.
So what are the SAR levels of Xiaomi smartphones?
Xiaomi smartphones are largely within the European limits and are not absolutely harmful to our health, in fact: some devices emit an extremely low radiation level compared to competitors. Mi 5 tests, for example, have had exceptional results, showing an absorption rate of 0.328 against the 1.18 of Apple's 6. Here is the list of the various Xiaomi smartphones with their SAR values.

There is therefore no cause for concern: the cinafonini (and the Xiaomi models in particular) are as safe as the smartphones of the most famous brands. However, our advice is to take into consideration, when possible, the SAR level of a phone before purchasing, in order to drastically reduce the amount of electromagnetic stress to which our body is subjected.
