Google Pixel with camera under the display: when will it come out and how will it be? A patent could reveal how the device works
Google is apparently preparing to release a Google Pixel with a front camera hidden under the screen. The technology is described in a recent patent and is different from what is expected from Samsung, Xiaomi e Oppo. In fact, remember that these companies have also presented (some live, some not) their device with under display camera. Unlike these though, Google wants it integrate a camera under the display in a different way.
The camera sensor and lens are positioned under the screen, at right angles. The second screen is located in front of the camera, below the main screen and in a right angle position. A prism or mirror is placed between the camera and the secondary display, as shown in the GIF above. When the camera is not in use, the content displayed on the second screen is reflected through a prism. Once the camera is activated, the prism is rotated to collect the light hitting the mirror and transmits the image.
The small auxiliary display also contains three sensors. You can use them as ambient light sensors, proximity sensor and infrared sensor. The latter can be used to enable the 3D face detection.
