Google has announced in a post on your blog that payments via QR Code will arrive on Google Wallet in the next months and first in Brazil, a country where a good number of devices in circulation do not have NFC technology. To pay with the smartphone it is necessary that it and the place where we are paying communicate in some way and the method chosen by Google for its payment system it has always been NFC. By bringing the device close to the dataphone at the right moment, the game is done. However, NFC is not equally popular in all regions, partly because some countries have opted for it QR Code for their payments instead of using NFC (see China, even if there is no big G there).

Google has finally given up and will introduce support for payments by scanning a QR Code. Instead of putting our device in front of the dataphone, we have to open Google Wallet and scan the dynamic QR code that is displayed on the latter, which includes all payment details. We will then see a summary on the screen of what we will pay and, after confirming our identity with the biometrics of the mobile phone, the order to debit the card is made.
The process is somehow more cumbersome than NFC payments although in places where this type of payment has been standardized, all alternatives work similarly. Payments via QR Code and without NFC will arrive on Google Wallet "in the coming months" but first in Brazil.
