Honor V40 codenamed “YORK” will adopt a MediaTek chip

Although a couple of days ago we found out that therehe new Honor V40 series will be postponed in a few weeks, the smartphone is still very close to launch and will represent the first device released by the Chinese brand since it left the Huawei family. It is therefore a highly anticipated smartphone and on which many spotlights are focused, both from the media and from the fans of the brand.

Honor V40

In all chaos, today the famous leakster Digital Chat Station revealed the code name of the device on Weibo (the Chinese Twitter), also sharing some more details about its chipset.

In particular, he would have said that the code name of the smartphone is “YORK”, while the model designation is YOK-AN10. The Weibo post also says that due to the Huawei Kirin chip shortage, the device will only come in one variant instead of two. So the version that should have come out with the Huawei Kirin 9000 has been canceled, but the one with the MediaTek Dimensity processor will be presented.

This is the second time we've come to know about this forced move from Honor, so it's very likely that this is true.

Now we just have to find out if the MediaTek chip on board the Honor V40 will be the MediaTek MT6893 that appeared online a few days ago. A very performing processor with 6nm manufacturing process.
