Poco ago we published the news of the rebirth of one of the historic brands for mobile telephony, that is BlackBerry but unfortunately we must instead give negative feedback for another historical brand that has contributed to the expansion of Android. Unfortunately, we are talking about HTC, which seems to have entered an unfortunate limbo of events that are dragging it towards the abyss. It seems that the last hope lies in the launch of a low-end smartphone, but the current financial data are certainly not successful propositions, considering a loss of NT $ 1,83 billion, or about 52 million Euros.
HTC increasingly towards decline: for the ninth consecutive quarter it is at a loss
For HTC, this negative trend is the consolidation of 9 consecutive quarters in which the company is at a loss, with particular loss in the division of virtual reality headsets. With these numbers, we certainly cannot speak of earnings, which are also down: just NT $ 1,34 billion, or -52,14% compared to last year (but + 1,02% compared to the previous quarter).
Unfortunately, the latest happy data for the HTC brand dates back to the beginning of 2018, a period in which it sold part of its smartphone division to Google. What a bizarre fate, don't you think? I'm curious to know which of you remembers other brands that marked the golden age of the birth of mobile phones ... I say NEC and Martin Dawes ...
