Unfortunately the official news: I'IFA 2021 Berlin, one of the most anticipated events of the year, will not happen. The world's leading trade fair for consumer and home electronics will return in 2022, according to the official press release. This year there were two expected events: one the IFA, the other the MWC. While the second it was decided to do it both face to face and online, the first has been permanently canceled. Let's go and see them in detail motivations communicated by the organizing body.
Due to covid-19, the IFA 2021 event will not be held, contrary to what was previously announced. Concerns the variant situation
Messe Berlin e gfu Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH jointly announce that IFA 2021 will not take place in September as a live physical event, unlike what was announced. The decision was made following detailed conversations with public health experts and multiple stakeholders. Specifically, what worries the most is the spread of the different variants but above all the fact that there has not been an expected change of course.
“Innovation needs a platform; it needs the center of global attention. That's why tech brands and manufacturers were keen to come to IFA Berlin 2021. Unfortunately, the latest public health developments have introduced too many risks into everyone's event planning. There are simply too many uncertainties. Therefore, at this time it has become almost impossible for anyone to responsibly plan their participation in any fair "
Kai Hillebrandt, chairman of the supervisory board of gfu Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH.
Fortunately, however, the other big event of 2021, the Mobile World Congress will be implemented in two ways: in presence and at a distance. We didn't expect such a decision, but in the end, safety always comes first. So, see you next year.
