When you buy a medium-low-range Xiaomi device with a given Android distribution on board, very often the latter is never updated, even if the smartphone periodically receives a new MIUI release every week. This mainly concerns the devices belonging to the first generations and which finds a small exception in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro which was recently brought to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow together with MIUI 8. However, to overcome such a limitation by the company, We are helped by third-party developers (developers) who, thanks to their skilful work, are able to “resurrect” a smartphone by bringing the latest Android release even on very dated devices.
This is the specific case that concerns two Xiaomi smartphones, one of which is precisely the Redmi Note 3 Pro (Qualcomm), while the other is the Redmi 1S, which thanks to two developers have managed to obtain the most recent distribution of the green robot, that is Android 7.0 Nougat. Both developers have taken as a basis the CyanogenMod 14 which, as you well know, is a custom firmware based on Google's AOSP to which changes have been made that allow greater customization, as well as give a better general user experience. Of course, being based on a project not yet ready to be released publicly, these two ports have compatibility problems that lead to a malfunction of some components of the smartphone and, consequently, are not yet ready for daily use.
In the case of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, currently the only component still not working concerns the photographic sector, while the remaining parts are all fully functional. On the contrary, as regards the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, the photographic sector is partially functional, as it is possible to access the camera and take pictures but it is currently impossible to record videos, while the real problem is found with the sensor. fingerprint which for now only works with a certain version of the sensor (FPC1020).
Below you will find some illustrative screenshots (respectively before the XMUMXS Redmix, then the Redmi Note 1 Pro) and, in case you are interested in it, you will immediately find the links that will send you to the related threads of these two projects.
