The alliance between Xiaomi and other companies is no longer news, but the collaboration between the Chinese technology giant and the leaerd company in offroad vehicles, namely Jeed, definitely rekindles interest. Collaboration, however, has nothing to do with the automotive sector but rather one armored smartwatch, a sort of SUV in the wearable sector, with a SIM that Xiaomi will provide for sale through its crowdfunding platform.
The Jeep smartwatch certainly could not miss the IP68 certification that protects it from water and dust, or complete protection against dust (IP6X) and against diving at a depth not better specified by the manufacturer but higher than 1 meter and for a minimum time of 30 minutes (IPX8).
Jeep and Xiaomi united for the sale of a smartwatch
To a smartwatch worthy of respect can not miss a good processor, which in the case of Jeep is entrusted to Qualcomm with its Snapdragon 2100 combined with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage space. The Qualcomm chipset also supports 4G connectivity for data connection that can be used via SIM, which will be inserted in the small slot located below the crown. Also great is the AMOLED screen from 1,3 inches with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. The rest of the dimensions are equal to 49,5 mm x 15,4 mm, while the battery is an 460 mAh unit that can be recharged via a charging base with micro USB input.
The Jeep smartwatch bases its operating system on Android Wear and also supports payment via NFC which also includes a Bluetooth 4.1 module and a WiFi b / g / n. Do not miss a speaker and microphone for telephone conversatikni and to complete the features we find a heart rate sensor as well as an interface to monitor various types of sports including swimming.
Unfortunately the GPS seems to be absent while the sales package is really something original and unique, almost collectible (see cover photo). The price for this Jeep smartwatch is 1980 yuan, around 256 euro at current exchange rates but maybe we will hardly see it in imported stores.
