The Xiaomi Health app allows you to measure your heart rate with your smartphone.

How many times have you wanted to buy a fitness band but then pulled back because you would not have taken advantage of the many features offered? After all, if you need to monitor your steps you can always rely on your smartphone, a faithful companion in everyday life that does not leave you even when you go to sleep. But you regretted not having a smart bracelet with you, when you felt faint or when you felt your heart beat faster enough to risk a heart attack.

Yet there is the solution and everything starts from a smartphone. Indeed Xiaomi has from poco released the new version of the Health app, a sort of Mi Fit resized with essential data that can be monitored by smartphones. Theoretically the new update of the Health app has been released for Chinese ROMs, but it can be easily installed as a normal APK, with the only compromise that the application will be in English, but what is offered is completely understandable even to those who do not squash a word of English.

The Xiaomi Health app allows you to measure your heart rate with your smartphone.

Before coming to the main course, or the possibility of monitoring the heartbeat in real time with only the help of the smartphone, I would like to point out that the app also integrates the monitoring and reminder function of the menstrual cycle, from which you can set your values in so you can track your cycle.

Having said that, to activate the detection of your heart rate instead, you simply have to tap on the relative icon (the heart-shaped one) from the main menu of the Health app and place your finger on the camera of your smartphone, which will be illuminated by the LED flash of the camera. At this point the measurement will start, with rather amazing results: in fact the result obtained is probably identical to what was obtained with a Mi Band 4.

If you don't believe it, you just have to watch the video below. Sure that I have captured your application, I just have to leave you the link to proceed to download the Health app. I only remember that if you have already installed the app in Italian, with the update you can only use the English language, but above all I remember that after each measurement it is better to clean the glass of the camera, otherwise you will end up with the shots all opaque to cause of finger grease.

How nice it would be, sooner or later, to have a fitness app that allows you to calculate your real body mass (skeleton and muscles, thanks to simple measures and formulas), which is not crazy bmi ... People are not all small-boned and without musculature, as they should in order not to be reported as being severely overweight or even obese.

I don't think it's technically possible. It can only be calculated live with a skinfold or radiological examination. Even impedance scales are not accurate, all crap.
