Beijing Xiaomi Electronic Products company was born in January 2012 with Zhang Feng as its legal representative. Its scope of business includes research, development of computer software and technology, mobile phones, sales of self-developed products, and is wholly owned by Xiaomi HK Limited.
Last month the news of Lei Jun's resignation from the positions of legal representative, executive director and president of several companies affiliated to Xiaomi came out. The companies included Guangdong Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Xiaomi Communication Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Xiaomi Information Service Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. Xiaomi Communication Technology Co., Ltd. Among them Guangzhou Xiaomi Information Service Co., Ltd. is wholly owned by Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. and the remaining three companies are wholly owned by Xiaomi Communication Technology Co., Ltd.
It is worth mentioning that not long ago Lei Jun resigned from the legal representative, executive director and general manager of Xiaomi Technology (Wuhan) Co., Ltd., which is also wholly owned by Xiaomi Communication Technology Co., Ltd.
At that moment, Wang Hua, the head of Xiaomi's public relations department, responded in a public post on Weibo, saying, “It's a normal change. Lei Jun's energy this year focuses mainly on issues related to car construction ”.
In any case, Lei Jun was pleased to reveal that "the current progress of Xiaomi's automotive production is faster than I expected".
So today's news does not represent a true abandonment of Xiaomi by Lei Jun, but it is more than anything else the confirmation that Lei Jun wants to concentrate his forces above all in the construction of future Xiaomi cars.
