With the beginning of July, the second half of this year has officially entered, which will be characterized by the presentation of the second flagship branch of 2016 by the various manufacturers. Among the many manufacturers, even Xiaomi is already working on its top of the range and, thanks to the various rumors leaked so far, we are already aware of the possible flagship devices that will be presented, as well as some of their probable technical characteristics. Specifically, it is rumored that there are two devices (excluding possible variants), of which the first should be an enhanced version of the Mi 5, that is the Xiaomi Mi 5S, while the second should correspond to the second edition of the Mi Note, that is the Xiaomi Mi Note 2.
Last day, we told you about a new rumor according to which both these two devices should have a significantly improved pressure sensitive display compared to the versions already present on other Android devices, along with support for Qualcomm's innovative Ultrasonic technology for recognition underneath any surface, including the display glass | Xiaomi Mi 5S and Mi Note 2 advanced pressure sensitive displays |.
Today we return to talk about these two devices again but we will not examine an aspect of the technical data sheet but rather an aesthetic one. In fact, according to what reported by Wang Yang (IHS Technology), the Xiaomi Mi 5S and the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will probably be equipped with a glass back cover as already seen in the current flagship of the company (Mi 5).
Opting for a glass cover provides the device itself with a better aesthetic and, therefore, its own image and identity (although it is not the first manufacturer to use it) if we consider the current canons that see the metal body almost as a standard. However, if on the one hand it is more aesthetically appealing, on the other hand it is more subject to serious permanent damage, as a fall could cause total breakage of the glass and not just a scratch or a dent, as it happens in the metal body (e.g. Nexus 4). Therefore, in the event that you opt for such a choice, it is of primary importance to create a quality component, without giving too much weight to production costs.
However, if we consider the already excellent quality of the glassy material used by Xiaomi in the Mi 5, we can be sure of the solidity and quality of the next devices that will use this material. That's all for now but in the coming weeks we will be able to tell you more confidently what materials will be used in these two new devices (plus everything else) and who knows, maybe there will also be versions with ceramic backs (hopefully) !
