The MediaTek Dimensity 1050 is a downgraded version of the Dimensity 1100 SoC, but it is also the company's first SoC with 5G connectivity in the 5G and sub-6GHz mmWave bands. Dimensity 1050 is a SoC octa-core at 6 nm with two high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.5 GHz. Although the company has not mentioned the rest of the cores, it is very likely that they are six ARM Cortex-A55 cores. It also has a graphics processor ARM Mali-G610 and supports MediaTek Hyper Engine 5.0, which provides additional tools and optimizations to improve game performance.
Dimensity 1050 supports displays with Full HD + resolution with refresh rates up to 144Hz, as well as hardware accelerated AV1 video decoding, HDR10 + playback and Dolby Vision. Additionally, the Dimensity 1050 processor offers 3CC carrier aggregation in the band below 6GHz (FR1) and 4CC carrier aggregation in the spectrum mmWave (FR2). The company confirms that the SoC provides up to 53% faster downlink speeds compared to LTE + mmWave aggregation. MediaTek Dimensity 1050 also supports Wi-Fi 6E and a 2 × 2 MIMO antenna for ultra-fast Wi-Fi connectivity.
Dimensity 1050-based devices will hit the market in the period from July to September.
