MediaTek, the famous smartphone chip maker, is about to launch a new mid-range processor, the Dimensity 8300, which will be the successor to the Dimensity 8200 presented in December last year.

The new chip will be equipped with a 1+3+4 architecture, with one Cortex-X3 core at 2,8 GHz, three Cortex-A714 cores at 2,4 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores at 1,6 GHz. As for the GPU, the chip will integrate an ARM Mali G52-MC6 GPU at 850 MHz. These characteristics make the Dimensity 8300 a powerful and versatile processor, capable of offering high performance in various usage scenarios, such as gaming, photography and artificial intelligence.
The Dimensity 8300 will also be compatible with 5G networks, supporting both sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands. Furthermore, the chip will support the technology MediaTek HyperEngine 4.0, which optimizes connectivity, battery management and graphic quality of games. The chip will also be able to support displays with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz and a resolution of up to FHD+.
The launch of the Dimensity 8300 is scheduled for this month, but it is not yet known which will be the first smartphones to mount it. However, it is assumed that the chip could be adopted by some Chinese manufacturers, such as Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, which have already collaborated with MediaTek in the past. The Dimensity 8300 could therefore be a valid alternative to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen1, which is currently one of the most popular mid-range processors on the market.
However, the Dimensity 8300 will not be the only news from MediaTek this month. In fact, the chipmaker also announced its flagship processor, the Dimensity 9300, which will be the first to use four Cortex-X4 cores, ARM's most powerful cores. The Dimensity 9300 will be able to surpass Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen3 in terms of CPU performance, and will be equipped with an Immortalis G720 GPU, which will support hardware ray tracing and other advanced features. The Dimensity 9300 will be launched exclusively with the Vivo X100 series, which will be presented on November 13th. This is therefore a very important month for MediaTek, which demonstrates its ambition and ability to innovate in the smartphone chip sector.
