MediaTek announced today the Dimensions 8300, an energy-efficient chipset designed for premium 5G smartphones. This chipset is part of the Dimensity 8000 series and combines capacity AI generative, power saving, adaptive gaming technology and fast connectivity, elevating the user experience in high-end 5G devices. Built on TSMC's second-generation 4nm process, the Dimensity 8300 boasts an octa-core CPU, including four Arm Cortex-A715 cores and four Cortex-A510 cores, based on Arm's latest v9 CPU architecture. This configuration offers a 20% increase in CPU performance and a 30% gain in energy efficiency compared to the previous generation. Additionally, the upgrade to the Dimensity 615's Mali-G6 MC8300 GPU delivers superior performance of 60% e 55% improved energy efficiency.
The Dimensity 8300 is the first premium SoC with full support for generative AI (as we predicted), thanks to the integrated AI APU 780 processor. This allows us to support the development of innovative applications that exploit language models large size up to 10B, as well as stable diffusion. The 780 APU, with the same architecture as the flagship Dimensity 9300 SoC, gets an improvement by 2 times in INT and FP16 computation and a 3,3x increase in AI performance compared to the Dimensity 8200.
This AI power, combined with MediaTek's 980-bit Imagiq 14 HDR-ISP, takes premium smartphone photography and video capture to new levels, allowing you to capture sharper, clearer videos at 4K60 HDR and record longer thanks to the extremely energy-efficient design of the Dimensity 8300.
