After the blockade given to the Developer versions of MIUI 11 to concentrate the energies on the development of the future UI of Xiaomi, rumors about MIUI 12 begin to flock, which previously seemed to be only the result of rumors but over time it is the same chief designer of the MIUI to confirm some news that we will find, perhaps silencing the rumors that provided for a more Google Stock interface than what has been offered to fans of the brand so far.

Perhaps few will notice it, as happened in the past, but with the new MIUI 12 we will find new fonts, with more support for global characters as well as the introduction to the possibility of having third-party dynamic fonts. In addition, we will try to standardize the UI, starting with standardizing the icons and loading screens of the system apps, as well as for the sliders (such as the one for the volume). Instead, the graphics of the quick toggles will not be touched, remaining curved, in order to maintain the sinuosity of modern phones.
And since the new devices seem to be moving towards AMOLED technology for displays, dark mode will increasingly be used, therefore it is necessary to optimize the display in light and dark mode, inserting bolds where necessary, optimization of numerical fonts and of the display of the remaining battery etc .. Having said that, let's see better what is "formalized" on MIUI 12.
MIUI 12 will seem to go to customize even the smallest details, such as the style of the backgrounds (not intended as wallpaper) of the screens that we see during some actions, such as the call of multitasking. But above all the general animations will be revised, both in terms of fluidity and graphic aspect. Among the animations involved, certainly those related to the navigation bar, multitasking and switch between running apps. Just the fluidity will be the guiding thread of the whole graphic renewal of MIUI 12, in view of a future in which displays with ever higher refresh rates will increasingly take hold even in the poorest segments of the market.
From the very beginning, one of the most popular features of MIUI is the customization factor, usually linked to themes that can be downloaded directly from the store inside the software. But with MIUI 12 things could change slightly, integrating what we saw for example on POCO Launcher but also on rival UI such as OnePlus' OxygenOS, i.e. support for third-party icon packs. Another change will concern the Dark Theme, a solution that allows you to save battery in devices with OLED screens, as at present there is a certain uniformity between the system and various apps.
Over the years, one of the changes in terms of functionality and graphics has mainly touched the camera app which in MIUI 12 could dress up with a more minimal and intuitive layout, although we do not expect major changes. We talk about space optimization, such as moving the buttons towards the bottom in order to facilitate one-handed use and offer a better view during shooting.
Other news requested by popular acclaim will concern a less invasion in terms of advertising, although this (especially in the ROM China) has allowed Xiaomi to keep the costs of its products low by offering competitive hardware. The hope is that it can be completely eliminated, but probably a sort of button will be inserted in the menus that will allow you to choose whether or not to take advantage of sponsored content. In MIUI 12, however, there will be a new system to monitor the data that the smartphone is able to collect, in order to preserve the privacy of the user who will have the option or not to disable in depth the individual app permissions.
Finally (for the moment) the improvements of MIUI 12 will also concern the system of notifications from the installed applications. The development team is thinking of a method for grouping notifications according to the type and priority assigned. Last but not least, given the explosion of wearable devices such as those proposed by AmazFi as well as IoT gadgets, the integration of these in system services as well as the health monitoring component will be an increasingly perfected aspect, as happens at example in Apple systems.
