What is "Portal", the new feature coming to MIUI 12

Although the arrival of the MIUI 12 is not making all users smile, especially those with Xiaomi Mi 9T and 9T Pro, the update is one of the most anticipated and therefore a little more time is worth waiting for. Yesterday we talked about something that flew over the tech sphere, or the places that inspired Xiaomi developers regarding the Super wallpapers. This morning we return to the features discussion as we are working on a new feature, present in the glories of the MIUI 9, which will come in handy especially for those who study languages: its name is “Portal".

As we said earlier, a feature similar to "Portal"Was introduced in Xiaomi's ninth personalized interface in the distant future 2017precisely on July 26th. With an update came the possibility of being able underline certain parts of a text (on Notes, on the browser, on instant messaging apps) and open a real portal. This portal acted as writing support and allowed to find synonyms, maps and a whole host of useful tools. The support of this feature was later abandoned to focus on other things but it seems that it is returning and completely renewed.

As you can see in the images above, support for functionality "Portal" Sara optimized for both dark and light mode. Emphasizing a portion of text will open a kind of widget which is called "Recognition of the text". Through this window we will be able to see synonyms, related phrases, alternative to the underlined text and also access the dictionary. In addition it will be possible search for the selected term or terms on the internet through the magnifying glass, to copy o translate into other languages. In short, it is a hybrid (apparently successful) between Gboard and Google Translate.

At the moment it is not clear when the feature will be released, but it will undoubtedly first arrive at ROM China and only later will it land in Global ones. It is understood that the period for Global devices will be long enough since there is a stake to be put into playsemantic and syntactic analysis of languages. Artificial intelligence will play a fundamental role in this.
