Android launches Nearby Share Beta for Windows

During the CES 2022 Google announced the arrival of a feature for sharing between different devices. A swap between smartphones and Windows PCs was upon us and the name of the feature was Nearby Share. Well, the tech giant announced today finally the arrival of the novelty in beta version that anyway had been discovered way back in 2021. Let's go see what it is and how to download it.

Nearby Share Beta app for Windows is already available for download on the official website android.com. You can get there via the link in the introduction. As far as compatibility is concerned, it should be noted that Nearby Share Beta works for windows 10 and later versions as long as you work on the 64-bit version. It should be emphasized that i ARM devices are not supported. But how does it work? First of all, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi must be enabled on our Windows PC. As with any data transfer, Google recommends a maximum distance of 5 meters between devices.

Nearby Share Beta for Windows allows you to quickly transfer photos, videos, documents, audio files or entire folders between your Android device to your Windows PC. This feature is useful when we want edit our photos on a bigger screen or organize our digital folders. How many times has it happened, in fact, to send a screenshot via email and then reopen it on the PC?

After installation, you are asked to sign in to your Google account to customize your sharing preferences. However, there is also the option to access the sharing service even without an account. When you receive a transfer, you have the option to open or close. Google states that all nearby share transfers are protected by E2E encryption. This means we have control over who can discover the device and send files, whether it's everyone or just someone in particular.
