DxOMark got its hands on the mid-range smartphone OnePlus North 2. Experts conducted a series of tests of the device and captured further 3.000 photos and 2.5 hours of video to determine the main advantages and disadvantages of the main camera. OnePlus Nord 2 is equipped with three image sensors: a Sony 766 megapixel IMX50 with an aperture of f / 1.88 and OIS, a wide angle from 8 megapixel (119,7 °, f / 2,25) and a monochrome with a resolution of 2 megapixel (f/2.4).
The device is capable of recording videos 4K at 30 frames per secondor. Experts noted that the videos shot have good details, a 'accurate exposure and good color rendering. During testing, the DxOMark experts noted that the OnePlus Nord 2 main module offers a wide range dynamic range, as well as a good level of brightness and saturation when taking photos both indoors and outdoors. An important feature of the model is the almost trouble-free operation of the autofocus. Also, the smartphone accurately detects the white balance.
All not without its drawbacks. In some camera operation scenarios, they appeared artifacts in the images and some frames lacked detail. When shooting at night with the flash, the photos were underexposed and with a high level of digital noise. Using a large zoom ratio has almost always resulted in a drop in details.
During the video recording, the experts noticed a graduated exposure, the presence of noise when shooting indoors and in low light conditions, as well as the appearance of texture artifacts and periodic problems with autofocus.
The final score of the OnePlus Nord 2 on the DxOMark scale was 116 points. Even taking into account the disadvantages, the experts noted that the smartphone camera showed the best result in its price category. In the consolidated assessment of the laboratory, the device has even surpassed OnePlus 9, which scored one point less.
