Oppo wants battery-free devices powered by WiFi and Bluetooth

Oppo is a dynamic company and never with hands in your pockets. His idea of technology, similar to that of Xiaomi, is that this must improve not only in terms of efficiency but also in functionality and comfort. For this reason the Chinese giant also known as Green Factory, published a whitepaper where he outlines his idea of future technology. We speak specifically of devices (mobile and not) powered not by batteries but by cellular signal, WiFi and Bluetooth signal.

Oppo has a real revolution in mind: the one that provides for the powering of devices not with battery but with cellular signal and WiFi

Oppo refers to the idea of electronics powered by environmental radiofrequency waves (RF). These would power devices that, in doing so, do not have to rely on power sources such as batteries (lithium or graphene). In the near future, IoT devices will be able to collect energy directly from Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and cellular signals. This will lead not only to economic savings in the construction of the devices themselves (which translates into a positive response for our wallet), but also a size reduction of the devices themselves.

A sketchy idea, but not entirely similar, is the one proposed by Xiaomi and Motorola with remote charging. In this case, however, Oppo thinks even bigger as its long-term project is to create "zero power" devices. Oppo sees other benefits in using radio frequencies for power such as in heavy industry and other sectors.

Oppo has reportedly tested the feasibility of the technology and will begin work on the zero-power communication protocol for future use. But for now, and probably in the future, the physical batteries will remain there backbone of our digital world
