When we talked a while ago about the proprietary Oppo processor, we didn't expect the chip to be an NPU. It works much faster than built-in solutions, opening up completely new possibilities for smartphone users. But new reports talk about the processor (SoC) of the company which seems to arrive in a couple of years. Let's see the details together
Oppo's processor, its SoC and AP are almost ready: after MariSilicon X, the Chinese company will finally produce the proprietary chipset
According to what we learn from Chinese industry media, Oppo is working on a application processor (AP) self-developed it should be launched in the 2023. Serial production of the chip in question will be done using process a 6 nm of TSMC. Along with that, the company is also working on its own System On Chip (SoC) which will integrate the above Application Processor (AP). A modem will also be added to this. This chip should be launched in the 2024 and will be produced using a 4 nm from TSMC.
We expect very high performance, a bit like Google promised with its Tensor processor. We remind you that MariSilicon X performances reach i 18 trillion operations per second (TOPS) when working with whole numbers of length 8 characters (INT8) or 72 TOPS (INT4). Furthermore, the company claims that this chip has the best energy efficiency on the market: 11.6 TOPS per watt. The module includes an integrated memory subsystem that enables it data exchange at terabit speeds and integrated RAM with 8.5 GB / s bandwidth.
Appointment therefore to 2023 and to 2024, when the two processors will be released on the market in the top-of-the-range smartphones of the Chinese brand also known as Green Factory.
