After a long wait, Xiaomi is finally ready to launch the Pinecone chipset, produced entirely "in house" without the help of external partners. The development of a proprietary SoC represents an important step for the company, which is added to the list of brands that have chosen to adopt this alternative in order to contain expenses while remaining independent. The presentation will most likely take place at the conference scheduled for tomorrow.
According to the latest rumors, in the next few hours Xiaomi will also unveil the Mi 5C, which should be equipped with Pinecone, in order to make the use of the chip concrete right away. The speculations seem to be confirmed by the fact that the terminal appeared on GFXBench, a well-known benchmarking portal, accompanied by an unknown chipset that seems to follow the alleged specifications of the component made by the Chinese startup.
In the last few hours, a screenshot has also appeared showing the list price of the device. The leak comes directly from Xiaomi Mall and reveals that the Mi 5C will cost 1499 Yuan (just over 200 euros). The authenticity of the image has not been confirmed. Xiaomi has never revealed the price of one of its smartphones before the launch and it is therefore possible that it is a fake. We are sure that we will know more about it tomorrow.
