Snapdragon 895 and 895 Plus should be the names of the next Qualcomm processors for smartphones. As is well known, this company does not itself produce the microchips, but buys them from companies such as Samsung e TSMC. The first Korean and the second Taiwanese, among other things the largest in the world. Well, these two will produce the aforementioned Qualcomm processors. But who will produce which? According to what was revealed by the Chinese whistleblower Ice Universe, the processors Snapdragon 895 and 895 Plus they will be produced by different companies. Specifically it Snapdragon 895 will be manufactured by Samsung, while the 895 Plus by TSMC. These are two leading companies in the sector which, however, are part of "different camps". On the one hand we have a production Korean and on the other one Taiwanese, the most important in terms of quality.
Qualcomm periodically changes the manufacturers of its high-end SoCs, but this time the story is different than usual. When two models within the same family are produced by different companies competing with each other on the market, there is something wrong. For the moment we don't know why but maybe we can guess it: so as not to burden too much on Taiwanese production, who has been seeing a black situation for months because of the chip crisis, Qualcomm probably has commissioned construction to Samsung.
