Message read confirmation on Instagram: it will soon be hidden

The application of Instagram allows subscribers to send Message in private mode. However, unlike other communication platforms, it does not allow you to hide the read confirmation. The "Seen" status is displayed at the bottom of the screen, dedicated to the conversation, and appears when a user views the message sent by a friend. Here, at the moment it is impossible to prevent this from happening. But it seems that things are about to change. Let's go into detail.

Instagram will allow you to hide the read receipt of messages

Recent verified information suggests that Instagram, after introducing some parental control features, is considering the idea of introducing a feature that would allow you to disable the "read" notification within the application.

This new option would probably find its place in the app settings and, using a specific button, subscribers could decide to activate it or not. This new feature appears to be in an experimental stage, and it is not yet known if or when it will be released.

The “read” notification appears in the message section when a subscriber reads a received message. This function is only visible on the device of the person who sent the message, informing them that it has been read. It's certainly practical, but it could compromise your privacy by showing that you were online at a certain time, even if your activity status is hidden.

The recent activity indication, on the other hand, shows when a person was last online. This can be identified by a green marker or a time next to a contact's or messager's profile picture. However, unlike the "read" notification, it is possible to hide it, with the consequence of not being able to see the last access of others.

When will this feature be available?

There are no official dates yet. This is certainly boiling in the pot, but at the moment the platform team has not yet released any statements. All that remains is to wait for news in the coming days.
