The Redmi series of the Xiaomi sub-brand is the cheapest one available to users. The latest smartphone in this series is the Redmi 8, released in October 2019.

Now, despite the fact that they have passed poco more than four months, the successor already seems behind the doors, or at least that's what the Indian press thinks. According to the media of the Asian country, Xiaomi would in fact be thinking of launching both the new flagship presented a few weeks ago, the Mi 10, and the new entry-level, the Redmi 9, at the same conference that will take place in March.
The same Indian sources also suggest that the incoming smartphone will adopt the new MediaTek Helio G70 processor, which is a weakened and therefore cheaper version of the MediaTek Helio G90 / G90T released in the previous months.
As for the features of this entry-level CPU, we already know that the Helio G70 uses eight cores and a 64-bit architecture. Specifically, we find four large cores of the Cortex A75 type, coupled with four small cores of the Cortex A55 type. These cores then run at a frequency of 2Ghz the former, while the less performing ones have a maximum frequency of 1.7Ghz.
The new processor supports RAM type LPDDR4x, therefore very fast, and up to a maximum of 8GB, although for sure we will not see this amount on the Redmi 9. Finally, from the point of view of internal memory, the MediaTek Helio G70 supports memory of type eMMC5.1.
Turning to the GPU side, the Helio G70 is equipped with a Mali-G52 2EEMC2, with a frequency of 820MHz and support for a maximum resolution of 2520 × 1080.
Among other specifications, we will then have to find a large screen, specifically 6.6 inches diagonal and with drop notch. While on the back there will be at least two cameras with a maximum resolution of 48MP.
