Roborock, known for its intelligent robot vacuum cleaners sold under the brand Xiaomi, has unveiled its first electric SUV with range extender and lidar, the lo stone 01, which has obtained certification from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and will be launched in the future.

Roborock, the maker of robot vacuum cleaners for Xiaomi, will launch its first electric SUV with range extender and lidar, the Rox Motor Stone 01

The vehicle is the fruit of the automotive project of Changjing, Roborock founder, who created a new company called RoxMotor.

Rox Motor positions itself as a technology company focused on the innovation of smart cars, taking the path of new energy. So far, it has raised 540 million US dollars (about 3,86 billion yuan) from investors such as Xiaomi Capital, Northern Light Venture Capital and others.

Il RoxMotor Stone 01 is a medium-large SUV of the electric type, with a load-bearing bodywork and a length of over 5 meters. It can accommodate 6 or 7 passengers and is equipped with a 1.5T engine that acts as a range extender, supplying energy to two electric motors with a peak power of 150kW and 200kW. The max speed is 190km/h and the ternary lithium battery is from Ningde Era.

But the most distinctive feature of the Stone 01 is its intelligent guidance system, which integrates lidar, cameras and radar to provide an advanced sensor solution. The lidar can be installed on the roof of the vehicle, while the cameras are located on the rear of the roof and on the exterior mirrors. The radars are mounted on the fenders. This means that Stone 01 could have two levels of intelligence, one based on cameras and the other on lidar.

Production of the Rox Motor Stone 01 will be outsourced to the Qingdao plant of Beijing Automobile Works (BAW), which is a collaboration between BAIC Manufacturing and Rox Motor.

With this bold project in the automotive sector, Roborock demonstrates its ambition and its ability to innovate in different fields. After conquering the robot vacuum market with its smart and affordable products, it now aims to challenge the auto giants with its off-road electric SUV with range extender and lidar.

It will be interesting to see when the Stone 01 is officially launched and how it will be received by Chinese consumers and if it can compete with other new automotive forces such as NIO, XPeng and Li Auto.

The Stone 01 is just the beginning of Roborock's vision for smart cars. According to Changjing, the founder of Roborock and Rox Motor, the company plans to launch more models in the future, including a pickup truck and a minivan. The goal is to create a family of intelligent vehicles that can meet the diverse needs of consumers.

To realize this vision, Roborock relies on its experience in the field of robot vacuum cleaners, which are considered to be small autonomous vehicles that can intelligently navigate domestic environments. Roborock has developed advanced mapping, route planning, obstacle avoidance, and machine learning algorithms for its robot vacuum cleaners. These technologies can also be applied to smart cars, to make them safer and more efficient.

Furthermore, Roborock benefits from its close cooperation with Xiaomi, one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. Xiaomi provides Roborock not only with financial support, but also with access to its intelligent ecosystem platform, which includes various connected products and services, such as smartphones, smart TVs, smart speakers, smart homes, and cloud computing. This platform can give Roborock the ability to integrate its smart cars with other smart devices and provide consumers with a smoother and more personalized user experience.

To find out more about the Stone 01 and its technical characteristics, we just have to wait for the first official info from the Chinese company. You can also follow Roborock on our page to stay updated on its innovative products in the field of robot vacuum cleaners and smart cars.
