We dubbed it "the megapixel race". From year to year the largest manufacturers of photographic sensors, in particular Samsung, invest millions and millions of dollars of investment in finding the perfect sensor. The goal will be to arrive at the resolution of the human eye? Who knows, the fact is that this company is working on a photo sensor from 600 megapixel. We knew of its existence from April, but now more details have emerged. Let's see what it is.
Interesting information about Samsung's 600-megapixel sensor emerges: it will be huge, really huge, almost impossible to install on a smartphone
According to the latest post by Ice Universe, one of the most popular leakers on the Chinese and international scene, Samsung would have taken a few steps forward compared to its own proprietary 600 megapixel sensor. This should take up an area equal to 12% of the back panel of the body and, on a hypothetical thickness of 8,8 mm, protrude by 22 mm. In a nutshell there would be one scalino 2.2 cm on the back of the smartphone, obviously making its use impossible.

The optics in question will clearly be huge and will carry one pixel size equal to 0.8 µm. It will be interesting to find out which solution the Korean manufacturer's engineering team will study for overcome the problem of the size of the photographic sector. Yes, because this perspective will certainly not be alone: to accompany it we could find one or two accessory sensors like a wide angle or macro.
Which companies will integrate this sensor?
It is certainly early to say for sure who will use Samsung's camera, but we can guess. Xiaomi will be in the lead. As usual, Lei Jun's brand occupies the top positions when it comes to integrating new technology. Below we will probably find Oppo (but we're not even sure) e OnePlus, subsequently accompanied by realme. What about Samsung? Yes, she too, but we are not sure if she is among the very first to integrate this sensor.
