They invented a smartphone glass that repairs itself

Do you fancy one smartphone whose glass never breaks? In fact it is possible with a new invention which introduces a transparent material but 10 times stronger than normal. It is not about the diamond, but almost the resistance is almost that. Scientists fromIndian Institute for Science Education and Research (IISER) of Calcutta have created an innovative screen protector for smartphones. Let's go see the details of the discovery.

How many saints have fallen for all the times the glass of the smartphone has been broken due to a fall or a scratch? Never again with this new technology

This is a hard and transparent glass, which cracks can "heal" on their own. Glass is created using a piezoelectric organic material capable of converting mechanical energy into electrical energy and vice versa. The result is needle-shaped crystals 2 mm long and 0.2 mm wide. The unique molecular basis of the material allows individual particles or crystals to "seal" the cracks. Scientists themselves are confident that their development is ideal for smartphones.

At the same time, it is stated that the new glass is 10 times harder than the solutions already on the market. Large cracks are unlikely to be removed, but small ones that arise during daily use, such glass is quite capable of eliminating.

It remains to add that in recent years we have repeatedly heard about such innovative glass, which can be restored independently. But the question it will not reach the commercial application, perhaps. Unfortunately, the staff of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research did not provide a time frame where smartphone makers can start using their development.

It is no secret that companies should implement increasingly resistant protective glass, but the question we ask ourselves is one: how much is such a hard glass really needed if the cost of the device must rise significantly?
