From the latest report by Counterpoint Research, which photographs the market for smartphone, a very interesting trend is emerging: consumers and their interest are increasingly focusing on a small circle of devices. We are talking about a sector where polarization appears to be growing strongly, both with reference to brands and products themselves. There is one thing to think about in particular: in 2021, the best-selling models contributed 19% of total sales. In the previous year it had stopped at 16%. But let's find out all the details.
Among the best-selling smartphones, Apple dominates, but there is room for Redmi
In the top 10 of the best-selling smartphones of 2021 there are only three manufacturers. We are talking about Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi. The domination of the bitten apple is evident, since it takes the whole top 5 and in general occupies 7 places in the ranking. Here it is in detail.
As you can see from the image, the dominance of the iPhone 12 is there for all to see and it was predictable. Also because of the series it is the least expensive. No surprise also for the success of the iPhone 13, despite being released in mid-September 2021 and compared to others it had a few months to establish itself on the market. But that didn't stop the podium.
There is a huge gap between Apple's devices and those of Samsung and Xiaomi, or Galaxy A12 as regards the Korean giant and redmi 9 e Redmi 9A with reference to the Chinese one. It is interesting to note that on the one hand we are faced with expensive devices, on the other very cheap terminals. And here corporate policies come into play: Cupertino only produces high-priced smartphones, with an extremely small catalog, while all the others make large numbers with a more diversified proposal.
