Smartphone sales at an all-time low. Possible growth next year

It may seem obvious to reiterate it, but the Coronavirus is reaping victims not only on a human level, but also from an economic point of view. The one that concerns us most closely, namely the technology sector, in this case the one relating to smartphones, only in February saw a 40% drop in sales. To provide us with a trend in the sector is the company CCS Insight, which also issues an alarm, predicting that smartphone sales for this year will touch the all-time low of the last 10 years.

CCS Insight predicts that 1,26 billion smartphones could be sold worldwide this year, recording a 13% slowdown in 2020, with a drop in shipments in the second quarter of the year of 29%.

Even after the end of the epidemic, demand for smartphones should remain weak, now considered non-essential goods, therefore given the impact that Covid-19 is generating on the entire economy, unfortunately sometimes also causing the loss of work, purchases will be channeled to primary resources.

The market is expected to recover only in 2021, with smartphone sales expected to exceed 4% from 2019. Interesting is the study by CCS Insight, which predicts a real stall in sales, relative to 5G smartphones, currently set aside given the much lower price of 4G terminals.
