Snapdragon 6 Gen 1: we know the official specifications in preview

At the beginning of the year Qualcomm announced the new nomenclature of top-of-the-range processors. These take the name of Gen 1 and, as previously announced, only the top of the range they would undergo the change. Not at all: Evan Blass spoiled us the official complete specifications of Snapdragon 6 Gen1, the first mid-range SoC (even a tad less mid-range in fact) with the new name. Insider Evan Blass has released detailed specifications of an unannounced Qualcomm chip for low-cost smartphones: the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip. In addition to the integrated 5G modem, the new product, judging by the leak, will be interesting for the compatibility with current interfaces, High-speed RAM and sensors of the high resolution camera.

According to Evan Blass (remember that he is among the best-known insiders in the tech world), the new chip with the number SM6450 will be produced using a lithographic technology 4 nm and will support networks 5G, in addition to fast charging technology Quick Charge 4 +. The number of cores in the specifications provided is not specified (presumably it will be eight), but the maximum CPU clock speed is known: 2.2 GHz. The processor is compatible with screens up to Full HD + resolution and cameras from 108 megapixel.

The graphics core of the new SoC (even the model is not specified) will receive support for OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.1 and 10-bit color depth. Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 based smartphones will be able to record 4K HDR video at 30 fps and slow motion video up to 240 fps. Also mentioned is support for standards WiFi 6E e Bluetooth 5.2 e RAM LPDDR5 (up to 12 GB).

The announcement date of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is still unknown: according to some rumors, the chip will be presented together with the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen2 at the Snapdragon Summit event, to be held from 15 to 17 November this year.
