TOZO OPENREAL – PREMIUM sound without ear pain

I'm back to talking about air conduction headphones, ideal for tackling outdoor sports but also for immersing yourself in a work session while listening to good music without losing control of the situation around us. In fact, the key feature of such headphones, or air conduction headphones, is to ensure awareness of the situation around us by leaving the ear canal open but without sacrificing too much sound quality, which generally happens in bone conduction headphones. Let's talk today about the TOZO OpenReal that with a cost of less than 50 euros, manage to amaze for audio quality even for calls.

SOUND

The TOZO OpenReal offer a really clear and crystalline sound, which already with the default preset allows you to benefit from all the nuances of the sound spectrum without particular differences, in fact mids, highs and lows are perfectly balanced with each other.

Naturally, through the companion app (available for Android and iOS) it is possible to take advantage of certain equalization presets or create your own, emphasizing even more the sound quality, which could also prove to be perfect for the audiophiles of the case.

The sound of the OpenReals is conveyed via air conduction technology, which would lead you to think that you don't benefit from the highest quality, but I assure you that you will be amazed by the naturalness of the audio that the 16,2 mm dynamic drivers are able to release. relying on TOZO OrigX acoustic technology, which translates into full-bodied and rich but at the same time clear and natural bass, without distortion but also the mid tones are brilliant, highlighting vocals and acoustic instruments not to mention the pleasant and clear high tones, such to distinguish the details of a song.

Complicit in the excellent quality of music listening is the large speaker grille which directs the sound towards the ear canal, while separating the sound that comes from the surrounding environment. Luckily, the transducers are quite aerodynamic, so they don't create too much wind noise. It should be noted that the design nature of the TOZO OpenReal will result in somewhat audible sound loss from 50% volume up, so audio may be heard by those around you, therefore poco ideal for personal calls in the presence of third parties or for listening to music in places where silence should reign supreme, such as in the library or while waiting for a visit to the hospital.

COMFORT, FIT AND CONSTRUCTION

A pair of air conduction headphones, such as the TOZO OpenReal, are able to guarantee maximum comfort precisely because the driver does not fit inside the ear canal but will rest on top of it. Despite this, TOZO's headphones remain stable once worn, as the silicone-coated headband guarantees full contact without oppressing and without tiring after long listening sessions. No matter how much you shake your head, they will never fall off. The weight, equal to only 29 grams, is also an accomplice of the maximum wearability and comfort.

Even the position of the physical buttons is studied in detail, in fact we will not push the headphones against the skull when we go to press the buttons and then the IPX8 certification makes them suitable for sports use, as well as being compatible with most helmets bike, so no problem for a mountain bike excursion or a simple walk in the city. Unfortunately, there is no carrying case that would protect the headphones during transport, even if the construction and the materials used are of a high standard, so much so that they seem more expensive than the real selling price.

Minimalist design with a matte black/grey color scheme. They are mostly covered with a soft silicone finish that feels gentle on the skin (with the exception of the outside and inside of the transducer module). They are very flexible but not "floppy" adapting perfectly to the different dimensions of the skull to which they will be housed.

AUTONOMY

The TOZO OpenReal air conduction headphones last up to 14 hours on a single charge, confirming what the brand advertised. The only negative note I feel is related to the way of recharging, which takes place by means of magnetic pins and a cable with a proprietary connection, difficult to find on the market if this is lost.

An autonomy of 14 hours allows a use that goes beyond 5 days if not more, considering an intense sporting activity. There is a sort of quick charge, which with just 10 minutes allows further use of the headphones for at least 2 hours. The proprietary port is located in the lower part of the right module.

SPECIFICATIONS AND COMMANDS

TOZO's product boasts both physical and touch controls, through which it is possible to manage every function, from volume control to skipping music tracks, but also the ability to manage calls and call up the voice assistant while using the companion app we can update the firmware and customize the sound via presets or custom equalization.

For calls, the quality of the conversation is guaranteed by a double microphone that uses an elaborate ENC algorithm and stable connection by means of the Bluetooth 5.3 module, with an indoor range of about 20 meters, but unfortunately the multipoint function is absent, for connection to multiple devices simultaneously. For lovers of numbers, the frequency response range varies from 20 Hz to 20 KHz while the exploited codec is AAC/SBC.

Returning to the commands, the touch function is only available on the right earphone, with a surface that almost entirely covers the driver, with well-calibrated touch sensitivity and rapid execution of the given command. Under the right module, behind the ear, we find 2 small rubber buttons that control the volume and skip the music track. So the touch surface is responsible for playing/pausing, answering/rejecting/hanging up a call and recalling the telephone's voice assistant.

Absent a game mode, but despite this I have not noticed any delays between audio and video, but I don't consider them suitable for gaming, at least for more competitive games.

PROJECTED IMPACT

If you're looking for headphones with an open-ear design, great sound without losing awareness of what's going on around you, you can't go wrong with the TOZO OpenReal. Ideal for sportsmen but also for those who simply love walking in the open air listening to their favorite singer.

The price of 49,99 euros on Amazon Italy makes them particularly captivating, also due to the fact that it is often possible to take advantage of coupons on the purchase page that reduce the price. By now there are many competing models but TOZO's solution offers greater autonomy than the competition, extraordinary fit and comfort, IPX8 classification and an enjoyable and appreciable sound even by the best audiophiles.

8.8 Total score
TOZO OPENREAL

With TOZO OpenReal earphones I think I have found the ideal solution to immerse myself in music while working or for outdoor activities, without losing awareness of what is happening around me. The really aggressive price and the high audio quality make these air conduction headphones among the best around. They are not a best buy, but they come pretty close.

Nerd, Geek, Netizen, terms that do not belong to me. Simply myself, technology lover and provocative as Xiaomi does with his products. High quality at fair prices, a real provocation for the other most famous brands.
