Vivo challenges Apple and Samsung into the processor market

Some time ago we discussed about the possibility of iQOO to create its own SoCs at home. The evidence spoke of clear certifications, which they named iQOO SoC and iQOO chip. But this Chinese company is not the only one to have this idea. Vivo, known as its macro brand, also plans to launch their own processors and to justify it there would be certifications that the known Digital Chat Station it gives us. As we know during the MWC which was to be held this year, the company would devote to the European market by shaking the biggest phone companies. Maybe he was going to announce his processors, who knows but ... all that glitters is not gold.

Vivo thinks of producing proprietary processors: a trend that is heard more and more often. But what's underneath? Are they really owners?

We have heard of it with Xiaomi who feared the idea of a Surge 2 but who abandoned the project for ingotious reasons. Then iQOO and now Vivo. The idea of building processors for smartphones at home is a way like another to "save" and have a higher profit margin on the devices sold. But is there anything behind it?

In reality, the vast majority of brands do not produce SoCs "on their own" but assembles, starting from ARM, processors similar to those that already exist. Indeed, ARM's strategy of creating basic block projects and let your customers (the OEMs) build a new chip by giving it another name it is recognized and many companies are already doing this.

It is not clear whether Vivo will also opt for this path but it is very likely because in this way the production (and therefore sales) costs of one's own mobile devices would drop not indifferently.

In any case, you have to wait before officially seeing these devices on our market. At the moment Vivo remains the second largest manufacturer in China. In your opinion, what is the fate of arriving in Europe?
