Very often we hear about benchmarks, i.e. the scores that the different platforms like AnTuTu o Geekbench damage to devices of each brand. It happens that many users decide to buy a smartphone only for a high score on one of these platforms. Xiaomi for some time it held the record on AnTuTu which, although it is the most famous, is not the only one to rate the performance of mobile devices. We also have the Finnish 3DMark that, apparently, it cannot give scores to the devices of the Chinese company as it blocks them itself. Let's try to understand what happens.
UPDATE AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE - 27/11/2020
Xiaomi blocks 3DMark benchmark scores - devices cannot be rated. A leak? A desired thing? Who knows ...
According to reports from the company itself on the official website Benchmark UL, many Xiaomi devices are not compatible with the platform. This is a novelty as both smartphones and laptops were previously perfectly evaluable by 3DMark. On the page of FAQ on the official website, a recurring question appeared which the Finnish company had to answer after numerous reports. What happens is that the Chinese company has inexplicably blocked access for this benchmark platform.
"Many recent models of Xiaomi smartphones have a firmware lock that prevents 3DMark from connecting to the network. Even when the smartphone shows that it is connected to the internet, this firmware lock prevents 3DMark from connecting to our servers to download and install the reference DLC files. In the 3DMark app, you see an hourglass icon in place of the download / run icon.
The firmware lock works by detecting the 3DMark app name and appears to be intentional. Unfortunately, we currently have no solutions for this problem. We will not be able to use 3DMark on affected devices until Xiaomi updates the firmware.
Contact Xiaomi customer support and ask them to stop blocking the 3DMark app."
This is what the benchmark company reported on the official page. It is not clear why Xiaomi has imposed this block but no doubt an answer will not be long in coming. If you also encounter this problem, please send feedback toXiaomi customer support to actually ask to resolve the gripe.
UPDATE - 27/11/2020
Xiaomi expressed itself on the problem with this statement:
"Following the problems encountered, Xiaomi immediately tested the different versions of MIUI 12. The company was able to observe that 3DMark does not encounter any problems and that it works adequately on Xiaomi / Redmi / models POCO in Europe.
Xiaomi confirms that 3DMark has never been somehow blocked on their smartphones. The company advises all users who are experiencing this problem to contact support. Thanks to individual feedback, Xiaomi will be able to understand the malfunction, acting promptly and interrupting the block. "
So the denial: nothing was blocked by the company. For any problem it is necessary to contact the official assistance.
