The giant of Chinese technology Xiaomi is accelerating its entry into the automotive market. In fact, according to Chinese media, Xiaomi's first car entered the fifth phase of production line testing (PT5) at the Yizhuang plant last week. The establishment aims to produce 300 vehicles this month, doubling the number compared to November.

However, this it doesn't mean the new car will be in mass production this month, but that to meet the needs of show cars, Xiaomi had to increase the pace, the start of mass production will not be before the first quarter of next year. At the same time, since this is its first car, Xiaomi “requires more stability than speed”. In addition, to make room for cars, some products in Xiaomi's eco-chain will be withdrawn from Xiaomi Home.
Xiaomi's first car is believed to be a high-end electric sedan, featuring autonomous driving technology and an Android-based operating system. The new car is expected to be officially launched in 2024, with a estimated price of around 300.000 yuan (around 38.000 euros).
According to engineers close to Xiaomi, the current new car is still in the verification and adjustment stage of the production line, so the output is not the main focus of this stage. The important thing is to resolve the problems encountered.
The report revealed details of some problems in mass production: some problems were on the car body, but some were solved via remote OTA and the presence of some R&D employees at the headquarters; more problems were in the production process, and problems such as line stoppages and untimely deliveries of parts were often found in the final assembly stage.
It is worth mentioning that on December 1st, the official website of Xiaomi Auto was officially launched. However, the brand's first car has not yet been officially announced, so this official website does not have much car-related content. It is mainly composed of three pages, one is Xiaomi 13 Ultra, one is CyberOne life-size humanoid bionic robot, and the other is the debut of Xiaomi's autonomous driving technology aiming to enter the first field of the industry in 2024; all three pages are not clickable.
