Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is the smartphone with the most "professional" display

Lo Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro released in mid-February in China and late March in Italy, it is without doubt one of the most premium and performing smartphones on the market. But how do we quantify the quality of some components such as the display that cannot be tested through a benchmark software? Well, companies like Soomal think that today released the review of the screen that we find on the Xiaomi flagship phone; let's find out more!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is the smartphone with the most "professional" display

Let's start with the main specifications of this display which Xiaomi claimed to be of a "professional" level. The screen has a size of 6,67 inches and is AMOLED type. We also have a 90hz refresh rate, a 180Hz touch sampling rate, a maximum brightness of 800 cd / m2, support for the HDR10 + standard and dynamic contrast of 5000000: 1.

The features that make the display of the Mi 10 Pro professional are the JNCD (Just-Noticeable Color Difference, the smallest unit that the human eye can distinguish between color changes) and △ E (Delta E, the measure of change in the visual perception of two given colors). According to Xiaomi, in fact, we have a JNCD less than 0.55, while the △ E is less than 1.11.

Let's now pass to the actual review. Soomal pointed out first that on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro there are different options of color range and color temperature, a very professional advanced mode is also added to modify HSV Hue, Gamma, contrast and RGB, saturation, etc. For professional users who master the use of color correction tools it is therefore possible to perform color correction through these options.

In any case, thanks to the use of a new generation of Samsung AMOLED panels, the overall brightness and clarity of the screen have been significantly improved compared to the Mi 9. In particular we have a brightness with a peak very close to 900 cd / m2, for improved readability under the sun, also for the side edges.

As for the viewing angles instead, we have a relatively slight color distortion (red and green) in the central part of the display, while the curved edges tend to dark. The smartphone then supports the DC dimming function which decreases screen flicker and noise when brightness is less than 20%.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro display review

With a 90Hz refresh rate and significantly improved hardware compared to the Redmi K30 released with the same refresh rate as the display, the Mi 10 Pro arrives with a more fluid user experience than ever, especially in video games. Samool also claims that the smartphone brings a user experience similar to that found on the OnePlus 7 Pro, another device with a 90Hz display. Recall that the Mi 10 Pro can always be set to 60Hz to save energy.

Going back to color accuracy, the Mi 10 Pro offers very good factory color calibration, so you won't need to spend time on calibration. According to Samool, users will only have to switch to primary display mode to get an accurate grayscale and color display. The coverage of the sRGB color gamut also meets professional standards, the colors are bright and bright, as well as the colors in the photos are very realistic.

Now, although the sRGB mode may seem insufficient with the growing popularity of the HEIF format and the wide color gamut, this is largely a problem with the Android operating system. So the responsibility is not really of Xiaomi which in any case through the advanced mode manages to bring an excellent range of P3 colors, useful for photography enthusiasts and videomakers.

Finally, Samool compared the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro to the OnePlus 7 Pro, which was the Android device with the best screen last year. Well, Xiaomi's device showed greater brightness as well as more accurate colors.

Below we can see the two rankings divided by "user experience" and "display quality". In the first we see the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro in first position followed by iPhone 11 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro, while in the second we find it in front of iPhone X and iPhone 11.
