Xiaomi Mi 5 and cover Italian networks

As we had already mentioned in our previous article. | Hugo Barra interviewed following the presentation of Xiaomi Mi 5 |, although this year Xiaomi made his first appearance at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it (via its vice president Hugo Barra) said that there is no intention, at least for now, by the company to expand its market outside Asia. In other words, we will not yet be able to officially access its products and take full advantage of its services, including technical assistance.

However, for those who do not get rid of this statement, you can still buy Xiaomi products, and in particular Xiaomi Mi 5, from third-party dealers, who deal with importation and, in some cases, also provide a product warranty.

However, as often happens when we buy imported devices, the first question we ask ourselves is the support for extra-Asian networks and, in our case, which LTE bands are supported. For the Xiaomi Mi 5, the confirmation of this compatibility has been provided to us by a simple Q & A (question and answer) by a user. Let's see immediately which bands it supports and if they are compatible with our Italian networks:

LTE bands: 1/2 / 3 / 4/5 / 7 / 8/12/13/17/18/19 / 20 / 25/26/27/28/29

From what you can see, owners of a SIM Wind (and TIM) can quietly breathe a sigh because Xiaomi Mi 5 supports all Italian LTE bands! In fact, there are both band 3 and 7 (respectively 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz), and the band 20 (800 MHz) used by Wind and in some areas by TIM.

So if you were undecided about buying this device, now you have one more reason to do it.

It would seem that the news is unfortunately not true.

http://www.mi.com/mi5/specs/

the official page only reports FDD-LTE (band B1, B3, B7) TD-LTE (band B38, B39, B40, B41)
