Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi MIX 2 open the way to facial recognition on MIUI 9

Some weeks ago we had told you of how it was possible to take advantage of the "trusted face"On the new Xiaomi Mi A1. The news surprised us but not too much if we think that Mi A1's operating system is Android One, and that Google has long since implemented this unlocking feature on its devices. In fact today's news is more directly concerned with the MIUI and, in particular, Xiaomi Mi 6 e Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 which respectively have tested and will test in next update the facial recognition function.

As mentioned poco ago, some owners of Xiaomi Mi 6 (probably beta testers) received yesterday a day "Mini" upgrade in order to test this new function which, let's remember, was already foreseen at the time of the presentation of the new MIUI, but it has been wished for a bit since it is strongly conditioned by hardware of the device.

The function, from some considered very comfortable, by others less, will be set from the menu of block screen, exactly where we find the password and the ability to add fingerprints. Let's remember, however, that the new unlock mode is still in test phase so users will share information with the Xiaomi development community in order to optimize it.

We are telling you that the new function will probably be released definitively simultaneously with the release of the first stable version of the MIUI 9 that, as mentioned yesterday, was postponed for a few weeks.
