Today morning, the co-founder and president of Xiaomi, Lin Bin, shared on the Chinese social media Weibo a really interesting background on the brand's latest flagship series, the Mi 9 and Mi 9 SE.
In fact, Lin Bin has made it known that, before the formalization, the possibility of having two devices called Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9 was considered. The latter would actually have been what we know today with the name of Mi 9 SE.

The boss of Xiaomi has instead decided to make it obvious that the Mi 9 SE does not have the top-of-the-range specifications and that therefore to call it Mi 9 (without SE) would have been misleading.
On the other hand Xiaomi had in mind to launch a "Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro" which, considering all the features of the Mi 9 as the fingerprint sensor under the screen and wireless charging, would not have been in our opinion something completely wrong .
Fortunately, instead, we have these two excellent terminals full of functionality and at ultra competitive prices. We suspect that if they had been called differently perhaps the prices would have been slightly higher for both.

In any case, to the words of Lin Bin, Chinese users have commented asking for another compact flagship also next year. Lin Bin's answer, and even before that of Want Teng (the product director), makes us understand instead that there is not much certainty as creating a flagship of this size has become really difficult, from the technical point of view.
So, unless the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE does not do incredibly well on the market, even helped by the recent presence in many Mi Stores around the world, the possibility of seeing a Mi 10 SE seems to us rather far away.

a real shame because at the Mistore in Venice last Saturday I touched the mi9se firsthand, I must say that I really liked it, the dimensions, the design and the unusual premium feeling in the 'compact' category (even if calling it compact would not be correct).
I do not understand, with regret, the choice to market it, in Italy, in the 128gb version only, at a price in my opinion high, I was hoping in the 64gb version on the 300 / 330 € right in the middle between the note7 and mi9.
In fact, defining the SE as a terminal sold at an ultra-competitive price (as the article says) is meaningless.
