When we Xiaomisti talk about Android TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and so on, the first thing we think about is Mi Box. And how to do otherwise: such a small gadget, with a super competitive price, that allows you to transform a TV into a Smart TV in just a few steps. Of course, in reality there are other problems: we have seen it with the Mi Box S that after so many vicissitudes seems to have solved all his bugs and finally received Android 9.0 Pie. But if we told you that one could come Mi Box 2? This is what emerged from a leak which, of course, must be taken with caution.
The Mi Box 2 could have a design very similar to that of a Nintendo Switch: a leak shows it in preview
Why should it be taken with forceps? Because unfortunately it comes from a not really recommendable channel, that is Slashleaks. Here we are used to seeing the most absurd oddities. Not least the leak that depicted one Xiaomi Mi Mix 4, then discovered a sensational fake. In any case, this is the first clue we have about this product and it's worth a look. Never let Xiaomi decide to take inspiration, if this is not the original project.
As you may have guessed from the photo and the title, the future (presumed) Mi Box 2 it has a design that is very reminiscent of the Nintendo Switch console. In particular, it can be detached, as if it were a separate form, the smallest part on the right. At first glance this could represent a remote control: two buttons suggest it, one round and one rectangular. Based on what is written on the leak image, the keys will be touch and not physical. In the lower right part we see the two modules first attached and subsequently detached: the writing below mentions "docking station for charging".
We could imagine that the remote control it will not be equipped with lithium batteries, but will be rechargeable through the Mi Box 2 same. This will obviously be connected to the TV and to the power supply. Or, just like the Nintendo Switch, all the device (and therefore the two modules attached) will be placed on a dock station that will recharge them.
At the moment we do not know technical specifications, release date or (much more importantly) if what we have just seen will really be the Mi Box 2 of Xiaomi. In any case: if the brand wanted to adopt this natural, completely new to her, would you prefer it to the classic square?
