The famous Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi announced a major step forward in its smart manufacturing strategy. Zeng Xuezhong, senior vice president of Xiaomi Group, revealed to the World Robot Conference 2023 that by the end of this year the second phase of the Xiaomi Smart Factory will come into operation, which will be a large-scale humanless smart factory.
Xiaomi Smart Factory: the "second phase" will start by the end of the year
The Xiaomi Smart Factory is an ambitious project that aims to revolutionize the smartphone production process, entrusting it to intelligent machines capable of operating autonomously and continuously. The first phase of the factory, known as “Black Light Factory”, was introduced in 2020 and has a production capacity of one million smartphones per year.
La second stage of the factory is located in Changping District, Beijing, covering an area of 58.300 square meters, in which second generation smart phone production line including SMT placement, board test, assembly, machine test and packing will be set up of the finished product. Production capacity will be 10 million high-end smartphones per year and the production value will reach 50-60 billion yuan.
Lo Xiaomi 13, which enjoys a high reputation this year, is the high-end flagship produced by the first phase of the Xiaomi Smart Factory. The phone has an elegant and innovative design, with a 108 megapixel rear camera and a 5000 mAh battery. The phone also comes with a Snapdragon 888+ processor and 12GB RAM storage. The phone is automatically assembled with high precision by the smart factory, greatly improving the quality and efficiency.
After the second production phase, the procurement problem of Xiaomi mobile phones, which are released with a dropper in China, should be further improved. Xiaomi said its vision is to build a global network of smart factories, which can meet the needs of consumers around the world with high-quality, low-cost technology products.
Xiaomi is one of the global leaders in the smartphone market, with a 17% share in the second quarter of 2023. The company has also diversified its offer with other smart products, such as TVs, laptops, home appliances and wearables.
