ZTE Axon 20 5G massacred on DxOMark: receives the lowest score ever

As some of you may recall, the ZTE Axon 20 5G was the world's first smartphone with an under-display camera. Today the smartphone has been reviewed by the famous photo benchmarking platform DxOMark; let's go find out more!

ZTE Axon 20 5G massacred on DxOMark: receives the lowest score ever

Let's start with the overall selfie score which settles at only 26. So far from the 104 points obtained by the Huawei Mate 40 Pro at the top of the ranking.

According to the DxOMark website, the Axon 32 20G's 5MP selfie camera is plagued with a number of image quality issues, although its exposure and focus are fairly stable. The overall score is divided into 10 points for the photo and 51 points for the video.

Some of the main problems are the smartphone's reduced dynamic range and underexposure in low light conditions. This is not surprising considering the camera is positioned behind a display. The Axon 20 also struggles with colors in photos, and there are visible white balance issues regardless of the conditions in which you shoot.

For videos, the smartphone performs a little better but still sits almost at the bottom of the DxOMark list. There is color degradation and the noise level is high in all shooting conditions.

So a smartphone to avoid for those who often take selfies or make video calls.
