Xiaomi, the Chinese technology giant, announced today that it has achieved first place in the smartphone market in Spain, overtaking its main competitors such as Samsung, Apple and Huawei. This is a historic achievement for Xiaomi, which began its adventure in Spain only six years ago, in November 2017.
Xiaomi is the first smartphone brand in Spain
According to data from the analysis company Canalys, Xiaomi has sold more than 2,3 million smartphones in Spain in the second quarter of 2023, achieving a 34,9% market share. This means that one in three smartphones sold in Spain is a Xiaomi. Second place is occupied by Samsung, with 25,7% market share, followed by Apple with 18,8% and Huawei with 6,4%.
Xiaomi attributed its success to its strategy of offering high-quality products at affordable prices, not only in the smartphone segment, but also in home appliances, wearables, smart home devices and internet services. Xiaomi has also invested heavily in its distribution network, opening over 100 physical stores in the country and collaborating with major carriers and e-commerce platforms.
Among Xiaomi's best-selling products in Spain are the Redmi Note 12 series, which offers high performance, quality cameras and great battery life, and the Xiaomi 13 series, which stands out for its elegant design, AMOLED screen and fast charging.
Xiaomi has stated that it intends to maintain its leadership in the Spanish market also in 2024 and to aim for the high-end segment, where it hopes to compete with more consolidated brands. Xiaomi also expressed its gratitude to its fans, who contributed to its growth and popularity. According to Xiaomi, its fan community app has surpassed one million registered users in Spain, becoming Xiaomi's largest community in Western Europe.
